Insurance

VC Revolution Cycling Club has third party (public) liability insurance cover through British Cycling’s Club Insurance

Who is covered by the club insurance?

the club;

officials of the club who are acting on the club’s specific instructions; and

individuals (non-club members) who have been invited to participate in club activities as invitees with a genuine view to joining the club and are not already covered by any other insurance. A ‘genuine view to joining’ means they may attend one or two club activities before joining the club.

Are individuals participating in club activities insured by the club insurance?

No, the Club’s liability insurance does not cover claims made against individual members. Therefore we strongly recommend that all participants in club activities, including group rides, obtain at least third party liability insurance cover either through a national cycling organisation such as British Cycling or Cycling UK; or via a commercial source. Contingent insurance cover is, however, provided to invitees who have been invited to participate in club activities with a genuine view to joining the club and who are not already covered by any other insurance.

VC Revolution Club Runs

Everyone participating in our club run, irrespective of whether they consider another to be the leader, is responsible for their own actions. It is important to note that our club run is not considered to be a formally led or coached activity, consequently our ride leaders are not qualified to lead and routes are not risk assessed.

Informal rides organised by members

Informal rides organised by members are not deemed to be official club rides and, therefore, are not subject to club insurance coverage.

Bikes

No cover is provided by club insurance should your bike be accidentally damaged or stolen so you should seek your own personal bike insurance.
